Every problem is best resolved by addressing it at the source, rather than dealing with the eventual effects. That truism has inspired me to create DAHR Consulting, Inc. My many years' experience of observing and dealing with business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) from several different perspectives has taught me that a number of common pain points often occur. Careful analysis reveals that most of them stem from three areas that are always directly involved in every disaster recovery event—areas that are often addressed poorly or not at all in preparedness planning. These three areas are at the core of this consulting business and have inspired its name:

       •  Help clients evaluate and improve their preparedness plans and planning methodology
       •  Share helpful information widely through presentations to industry conferences.

Thorough planning and follow-through reduces pain during a disaster and makes recovery easier and faster. Regulatory compliance may also be significantly improved. One thing is certain: a business that strengthens its continuous availability strengthens its overall fabric and that of any entity that depends on it.
